Train to Gain
Train to Gain is a government-funded programme that seeks to provide impartial, independent advice on training for employers and their staff across England. It is managed by the local Learning & Skills Council and aims to support improved productivity and competitiveness by ensuring that employees have the right skills now and in the future.
Train to Gain gives you access to a Skills Broker who will carry out a free needs analysis of training within your business and help you assess what skills are available to your business now and what might be needed in the future. Brokers also provide free advice on a wide range of skills training solutions for your business and can help you select the most appropriate training providers.
Train to Gain will also help in identifying the best way to pay for training, including identifying and recommending funding available.
As well as helping you access other sources of funding, the Train to Gain service can also provide some funding itself. This includes:
- free training to help your employees gain their first, full Level 2 qualification
- a wide range of training for low skilled employees
- the possibility of a contribution to wage costs for companies with less than 50 employees to cover the cost of the time spent in training.
