Skills support for sectors
Whether you are a sole trader, employee, employer or human resources manager, there is support to help you and your organisation acquire the skills and expertise needed to achieve success.
Our Agencies and Networks page provides information and links to a wide variety of organisations who typically offer free or low cost support for businesses and their staff. Many of these arrange events or run training sessions and courses to help individuals and companies increase their skills and knowledge base. In addition to the organisations already listed on our Agencies and Networks page, there are a number of additional training providers who offer services to businesses in the local area.
South East Centre of Marine Vocational Excellence
This initiative is focused on specialist training for personnel in the marine industry and is delivered to Gosport firms and residents primarily by the Paragon and ITE Training Group. The training programme operates across both new and traditional occupations in the marine industry and is available to those already in employment, as well as those looking for work or interested in self-employment. Paragon and ITE training are located at Blackbrook Business Park, off Newgate Lane. Their facilities include: fully equipped marine engineering training facilities, and ICT training suite, canteen and training rooms. Learndirect
Learndirect is a government supported initiative to provide flexible learning opportunities to individuals or groups of employees. Most courses are online, although about 20% use CD-ROM or workbooks – however, whatever the method, there are always local-based staff available to help.
