Environmental Health

Gosport Ferry TerminalGosport Borough Council’s Environmental Health service provides a wide range of support for local businesses and their employees.  This includes: health promotion (incorporating advice and guidance on smoking regulations); food hygiene in commercial premises; controlling noise pollution; health and safety enforcement and advice; licensing and pest control.

The service, which works closely with the Food Standards Agency and Environment Agency, has a number of teams that provide a wide range of educational and advisory support.  The aim is to help businesses and ensure that the need for enforcement action is minimised.

Food Hygiene

The Food Hygiene team has a duty to ensure that all food that is manufactured, prepared and sold in Gosport is in a condition fit for human consumption. Any business wishing to sell food must register with Environmental Health, click here for a copy of the registration form, or to find out more about what the law requires.

The Council’s Food Hygiene team can advise on all aspects of food hygiene, as well as offering a range of training courses. Contact them on 023 9254 5507.

The Food Standards Agency has produced a useful booklet ‘Starting Up – Your first steps to running a catering business’ for anyone looking for advice on setting up a food-related enterprise. Existing businesses can also get the latest advice and information on food hygiene standards and best practices by visiting the Food Standards’ Agency website.
