Education
If you are looking to relocate to the area you may want to find out about local schools, childcare provision, or opportunities for further or higher education. If you are in business, it also pays to be aware of the large pool of highly skilled graduates and expertise that is available from the four Universities located in south Hampshire.
Schools
Gosport has three secondary schools with specialist status in Maths and Computing; Sports; and Performing Arts. Bay House school also has an excellent sixth form, consistently ranked by The Times as one of the top comprehensive schools in Hampshire for achievement at ‘A’ level. Bridgemary Community Sports College
For those with younger children, there are 28 infant, junior and primary schools in the Borough, including one Church of England and one Roman Catholic primary school. There is also a wide range of childcare provision, including crèches, nursery and pre-school.

Further education colleges
There are six colleges of Further Education (FE) in, or within, half an hour’s journey time of the Borough; offering an outstanding range of vocational and academic provision. The area is benefiting from major capital investment in refurbishing and extending its FE colleges, as well as high quality new builds. Within Gosport there is development of further industry-standard vocational provision – a tangible sign of the commitment to maintaining and developing the skills of the workforce of today, for tomorrow.
Universities
The four Universities serving the south Hampshire area (Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester and Solent) provide a pool of talented, highly skilled, graduates and researchers. Many of these stay in the area, encouraged by the commitment to enterprise and increased opportunities in high value sectors, such as advanced manufacturing and business services.
The Universities serve approximately 80,000 students per annum and offer a comprehensive range of provision, from short courses and seminars through to degree and post-graduate learning. Traditional lecture-based delivery, either part or full time, is accompanied by options for on-line learning and partnership programmes, that bring together workplace learning and university study.
