To support this development, actions are underway to improve the Borough’s strategic accessibility and enhance business infrastructure. A new £5million cross harbour ferry pontoon will open in Spring 2011; one of a number of investments in water-based transport within Portsmouth Harbour. The first phase of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is due for completion later this year system further improving public transport to the Gosport peninsular and complimenting the existing road and rail networks.
An additional priority is to create flexible low-cost commercial premises that will provide the essential foundation for business start-up and growth in our priority sectors of advanced manufacturing, (aerospace, defence and marine), tourism and health & care.
As a partner in the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH), we are committed to working in collaboration to realise the full potential of these redevelopment sites and ensure long-term prosperity.
