Winner of Stoke Road logo competition announced!
02/09/2010
The Stoke Road “LOGO COMPETITION” culminated in a prize-giving held at Gosport Town Hall on Friday 3rd September attended by 50 children and parents. The competition was conceived by Stoke Road Traders Association as they sought to update their existing logo.
It was thrown open to 7–11 year olds throughout the town to design an appropriate image that reflected the diverse nature of Stoke Road, a unique shopping area with many independent businesses. Rick Jackson of WAVE 105 radio station was present (pictured alongside with all the entrants) to award the prizes to the three lucky winners.
The overall winner was Oliver Clark who took away the £100 prize with Harry Drewitt in second place winning £50 and third was Rebecca Wooden. All the entrants had their photo taken with Rick Jackson and each received a certificate in acknowledgement of their efforts.
A special commendation went to Katie Little who submitted a very original poem all about shopping in Stoke Road in addition to her logo entry. Michelle Peskett from Ruby Funerals who compared the event praised all the entrants for the originality and enthusiasm that was reflected in their artwork and went on to thank Gosport Borough Council for their great help in staging the competition.
