Economic Growth- Business Celebration Award Winners

The Economic Growth Award recognises businesses which are contributing to the expansion and diversification of the Gosport economy. Contenders needed to have successfully developed new markets, products or services; and invested in knowledge, skills and technology to support future growth.
Gosport Business Centre has supported hundreds of new and small businesses over the last 7 years, providing them with high quality, flexible, managed business spaces in an award-winning environment. Although staff put time and energy into helping ensure tenants are successful, they also support the local community. Whether organising business events or supporting enterprise activities with local schools, everything they do is aimed at helping individuals and companies to grow and prosper.

Whilst continuing to grow its own operations Mabway Training supports the growth of individuals and other businesses. Providing bespoke training solutions for the military, maritime and rail industries, the business also offers leadership, conflict management and life skills training to a range of customers. Investment in equipment and local facilities has allowed electrical and mechanical training opportunities to be opened up to small businesses in Gosport, and a joint venture with St Vincent College has even resulted in the establishment of a Marine Skills Centre.

Fortek, a family-owned business was founded in Gosport over 25 years ago, and has become a leader in the development and delivery of technology-based Integrated Command, Control and Communications Systems for emergency service agencies across the globe. They employ over 65 people and successful partnerships with Fujitsu, Motorola and Frequentis underpin the firm's continued growth and expansion. Their recent acquisition of a third premise is testament to the company's continuing success and commitment to Gosport. With exports accounting for approximately 40% of the company's multi-million pound turnover, and Fortek's continue to raise the profile of the town and bring business visitors to the Borough.
