Council's training drive to support Gosport retailers
13/10/2009
The program dates are:
Gosport Borough Council is supporting local retailers by helping them develop the skills to increase their profits. In response to a request from local independent retailers for more “hands-on” courses, the Councils Economic Prosperity team has organised a programme of workshops specifically tailored for their needs.
The current economic climate has put increasing pressure on independent retailers forcing them to be even more creative in maintaining their existing customers and attracting new ones.
The retail program includes 4 separate workshops which are designed to provide useful advice and techniques. Three workshops focus on developing webskills and the other is a hands-on workshop on visual merchandising. The 3 webskills workshops cover email marketing, website design and development and eCommerce. The workshops will also cover selling on-line. The visual merchandising course will be a fun and interactive session covering practical display techniques focusing on the busy Christmas period.
Liza Smith, Economic Investment Officer at Gosport Borough Council says: “This programme of workshops has been funded by Gosport Borough Council and Hampshire County Council to support the retail sector in this difficult time. We would encourage all local independent retailers to take up this opportunity to enhance their merchandising skills and explore new and innovative ways to market their products on-line”.
