Date: 13th May 2010 Location: Sargeant Resource Room, West Downs Centre, University of Winchester Time: 6.00-8.00 pm

Event Information

Have you heard of terms such as backlinks, search engine optimisation, search rankings, SERPs and PPC, but been left feeling confused? The best way to get visitors to your website is getting your website found in the search engines. The process of improving your rankings is called search engine optimisation (SEO). Although a massive topic, the principles of SEO are simple and straightforward. Ultimately it’s about ensuring searchers find what they are looking for, ideally on your website.

Dan Harrison will be explaining the absolute basics of SEO, namely what it is, how it works and what the fundamental principles are. No technical knowledge is assumed, and no prior knowledge of SEO is needed. All that is assumed is that you have a website and you are comfortable using a search engine.

Come early at 5:30 for a short tour of the new location of the Winchester Business School, given by Professor Neil Marriott. He will show us how the West Downs Centre has been transformed into state of the art classrooms, including a trading floor! Meet in the lobby at 5:30 pm.

Book on the Wired Wessex website.
