Gosport's Big Day Out
GOSPORT’S BIG DAY OUT - A HUGE SUCCESS!!

Thousands of residents flocked to local attractions as part of the third Gosport’s Big Day Out, which took place on Sunday 13 June.
The event, organised by Gosport Borough Council, followed the established formula in which local tourist attractions provided free or discounted entry to local residents. Everything from treasure hunts, harbour tours and open top bus rides to pond-dipping, fishing and walks were on offer for Gosport residents to get out and about to enjoy.
The heritage of the Borough was celebrated as Fort Brockhurst, 17th Century Village and Daedalus as well as other local museums opened their doors, with a host of other venues offering the opportunity to sample something different. Over 15,000 people took advantage of what was on offer to create their own special day out.
Thousands then joined in the family fun from 4-7 pm at Stokes Bay; with the sunshine and music helping to create a party atmosphere. The evening was compered by Wave 105’s Rick Jackson with the Big Noise Samba band kicking off the entertainment. They were followed by superb performances from the Gosport’s Got Talent finalists: Chanelle Rawlinson and Jasmyn Mcgrath, before headliners Abba Rival took to the stage with a medley of ABBA favourites.
Council Leader, Cllr Mark Hook said: “The Big Day Out is fast becoming one of the highlights on the Gosport social calendar. It’s a fantastic opportunity for local residents to get out and enjoy the incredible range of activities the Borough has to offer.”
